From courses starting in April 2010 and in partnership with Scarborough's Acupuncture Supplies and the college's Board of Trustees, CTA is offering scholarships and bursaries to students who have been accepted onto CTA's programmes and who have demonstrated academic and professional excellence and vision (scholarships) and / or financial need (bursaries).
One scholarship and one bursary will be awarded to students who have been offered a place in each of the three classes starting the BA programme in Traditional Acupuncture every year in September, October and March. Whilst the award of both bursaries will remain confidential as they are based upon financial need and comprise £2,000 towards tuition fees for three years, the scholarship will be awarded on the basis of professional and / or academic excellence and will comprise the full tuition fees for all three years of study. This will not be based upon generic excellence, but aligned with CTA's wider strategic objectives as an educational charity, and in particular, the college's ambitions for the acupuncture profession in developing the appropriate integration of acupuncture into statutory health provision. The scholarship will, therefore, be awarded to the applicant who has the most demonstrable track record in designing and developing innovative programmes which extend access to healthcare services.
These scholarships and bursaries are for CTA's undergraduate training in Traditional Acupuncture and for acupuncture practitioners will be primarily relevant for any associates or patients who are considering training in acupuncture. But every two years (and so again in 2010/11) a postgraduate scholarship will be awarded for CTA's MA in Traditional Acupuncture, and again, this will reflect the college's ambitions for the profession. Accordingly, the postgraduate scholarship will be awarded to the applicant who has the most demonstrable track record in designing and developing innovative programmes which extend access to acupuncture.
