Julie is Head of Research at CTA, having obtained her MSc in Health Services Research working with Hugh MacPherson at York University. She is responsible for the development, delivery and quality control of research teaching in the BA curriculum, as well as the MA programme Dissertation module.

Julie is a member of the British Acupuncture Council (BAcC) Research committee, and sits on the Trial Steering Committee for the current NHS funded pragmatic randomised controlled trial of acupuncture for irritable bowel syndrome. Funding was secured on the basis of the pilot trial Julie conducted as part of her MSc.

Julie's private acupuncture practice is based in Kings Norton, Birmingham, where she also runs a low cost multi bed clinic with Annie Pottinger, another member of faculty.
