Part of acupuncture’s profile in the UK and worldwide is that it is a holistic medicine, and the second most common reason for patients seeking help with acupuncture is for mental and emotional issues (after musculo-skeletal problems). The focus of this module is the context, delivery and development of acupuncture in mental health services in the UK, as well as clinical insights in general acupuncture practice as it addresses mental health problems.

Through a range of learning and assessment opportunities, this module will offer you the opportunity to draw together prior clinical experience with new knowledge and skills and apply it appropriately and safely in practice.

The overall aim of this module is designed to deepen a practitioner’s criticality, creativity and clinical confidence when treating common and moderate as well as more serious mental health problems, in a range of practice settings.
