Michael Baker

Michael’s interest in Traditional Chinese medicine began with a study tour of mainland China in 1978. He returned in 1980 to continue his studies of Chinese health arts. He practises at Abingdon, Witney and Wantage. Michael gained his Lic.Ac. in 1985 and Bachelor of Acupuncture in 1989. He has a Master grade in Ti Chi Chuan, a Master grade in Kai Men (Chinese Yoga) and lectures in Chinese health arts.

Mark Butterworth

Mark who gained his acupuncture B.A.(Hons.) in 2004, is also qualified in teaching adults. He has undertaken workshops in Tuina, acupuncture for pain relief and Chinese characters. Mark also has an ongoing interest in Chi Gong and Karate.

Maria Doyle

Maria has a background as a social worker working mainly with children on the Child Protection Register, and prior to this worked in nursing. She qualified as an acupuncturist with a B.A.(Hons.) in 2003 and is a member of first and second year teaching teams.

Ian Hope

A registered nurse with many years experience in Intensive Care, Ian qualified as an acupuncturist in 2001 from CICM. Working in a busy practice in Bristol Ian's has a special interest in emotional distress. Ian has pervious teaching experience in which he lectured in TCM as well as running the student clinic in his previous teaching post.

Richard Graham

Richard first qualified as an acupuncturist with Lic.Ac. in 1995. He then went onto gain an Advanced Lic.Ac. in 1999 a Master of Acupuncture in 2002, became a qualified physiotherapist in 2004. In 2005 Richard set up a charity called ‘Physiomed Abroad’ which teaches basic physio and acupuncture skills to Doctors and Nurses in third world countries. He has also in the past worked for the Princes Trust.

Paul Hougham

Paul is CTA’s Principal and a passionate practitioner, teacher and advocate of traditional acupuncture. He is past Vice-Principal of the School of Five Element Acupuncture in London and currently serves as President of the British Acupuncture Council. From 2002-2006 he served on the British Acupuncture Accreditation Board, and in 2006 his first book, The Atlas of Mind, Body and Spirit was published by GAIA Press. He sees acupuncture as the best kept secret of healthcare in the UK and is committed to CTA taking a lead role in widening access to its benefits.

Xinha Jardine

Xinha came to England from Portugal to study acupuncture and was awarded her Lic.Ac. in 1998 and her Advanced Lic.Ac. in 2000. Since qualifying she has also taken up some postgraduate studies in Japanese Acupuncture As well as running an acupuncture clinic in London, Xinha works for the Core Trust Drugs Rehabilitation Centre. She has also in the past worked for the Immune Development trust providing acupuncture treatment for HIV patients.

Claire-Louise Hatton

Claire-Louise received her Lic Ac qualification in 1988, Advanced Lic.Ac. in 1992 and her Acupuncture Master in 1997. She has been a clinical supervisor since 1994, she also helped to develop the College’s library. Claire-Louise was a member of the Advanced Studies team from 1997-2000.

Dean Lander

Dean gained his Lic.Ac. qualification in 1993 and went on to be awarded his Advanced Lic Ac in 1995 and Acupuncture Master in 1999. He became a member of the Faculty in 1994 and joined his first teaching team in 1996. As well as teaching, he provides the technical support for the College’s audio-visual facilities and is the author/editor of the Jing Luo Definitive Guide to Point Location. He has been a practising acupuncturist since 1993 with clinics in Leamington Spa and Dorridge, near Solihull.

Pat Hulburd

Pat is a qualified practitioner in traditional acupuncture, gaining her Lic.Ac. in 1998 and Advanced Lic Ac in 2001. She has been a member of the Faculty since October 1999 and manages her own acupuncture clinic in Herefordshire. Pat currently works with first year students.

Lezli Lawrence

Lezli has been involved in both development and teaching of the western science component of the programme. She gained her Lic.Ac. in 1989, was awarded a Post-graduate Certificate in
Education from Oxford Brookes University in 1998 and a BSc in 1999. Lezli has also taught on the College’s Prospective Faculty Development programme and is involved in faculty and student liaison and quality assurance.

Chris Leeson

Chris is co-founder and chairperson of a Positive Health Awareness group in her local community and is also interested in exploring the energy of the seasons. She gained her Lic.Ac. in 1996, and has been a member of several teaching teams. She is a practising acupuncturist with clinics in the Birmingham area and at Glastonbury.

Alison Moon

Alison, who comes from a business background, gained her B.A.(Hons.) in acupuncture at CTA in 2003 and also holds a teaching certificate. Alison joined the faculty in order to endevour to inspire others in the way in which she had been inspired as a student.

Paula McPhail

Paula comes from a background in education and holds a Post Graduate Teaching Certificate and a Masters Degree in Education. Paula gained her B.A.Hons in Acupuncture in 2000. She is also on the Executive Committee of the British Acupuncture Council and is the Chairperson of the Student Affiliation Service.

Jon Price

Jon’s route to acupuncture was through martial arts. Having studied Chinese martial arts for the last fifteen years, Jon felt that becoming a practitioner was quite a natural step for him. Jon values the scope of Traditional Acupuncture and feels that unlocking potential is an amazing thing to observe in patients.

Coral Perfitt

Coral has a special interest in research and has carried out a number of research projects within the College. She gained her Lic.Ac. in 1997 and her Advanced Lic Ac in 2000. She became a Faculty member in 2001 and is currently a member of a second year teaching team. Coral is also a resident practitioner at the College.

Ben Stevens

Ben gained his Lic.Ac. in 1980 and his M.Ac. in 1989. He completed the Traditional Chinese Medicine Integration course at Reading in 1997. He currently practises in Malvern and Bristol. Ben is a qualified Registered Mental Nurse and was, from 1990 to 2001, a tutor on the
College of Healing Diploma Course, accredited by Open College Network to Level 4.

Jo Radley

Jo qualified as an acupuncturist with a B.A.(Hons.) in 2004. Jo, who originally worked as a police officer and then went into the world of business has, in more recent years, acquired a wealth of
experience in a range of holistic therapies including reiki, rolfing, healing, neuro linguistic programming, cranio-sacral therapy and counselling.

Rosi Roper

With a background in the National Health Service as a State Registered Nurse, Rosi gained her Lic.Ac. qualification in 1985, going on to gain her Bachelor of Acupuncture in 1990 and her Acupuncture Master in 1999. Rosi has been involved in a number of teaching teams, both as a
clinical supervisor and as a teaching team leader. She lives and practices in South Birmingham.

Julie Reynolds

Julie, who has a Masters Degree in Research is a key person on the research component of the course and has worked on updating this aspect of the course, adding more direct relevance to
acupuncture. Julie qualified as an acupuncturist with a B.A(Hons.) in 2005.and also runs a busy part time practice in Kings Norton.

Carl Reynolds

Carl was awarded his Lic.Ac.in 1999 he is also one of a small number of practitioners in the UK qualified in Korean hand massage. Carl has a Post Graduate Teaching Certificate and is soon to embark on a Masters Degree in Education. As well as working on CTAs faculty Carl has also
taught and run courses in acupuncture at the University of Wales. He is also a Facilitating Officer for Continuing Professional Development for the British Acupuncture Council.

Gabi Stutz

Gabi has a BA (Hons) equivalent in French and English Literature & Linguistics from Universitaet Tuebingen, Germany. In 1991 she became a lecturer at Buckingham University. She gained her Lic.Ac. qualification in 1990 then went on to gain her Advanced Lic.Ac. in 2001. Gabi has been a practising acupuncturist since 1990 with a clinic in Milton Keynes. She has been involved in a number of teaching teams as leader and team member.

Celia Tudor-Evans

Celia was awarded her Lic.Ac. in 1982, her Advanced Lic.Ac. in 1997 and her Master of Acupuncture in 2000. She has been involved in teaching across the College for a number of years and in a variety of roles including Associate Dean. She holds a
Teaching Diploma from the University of Manchester and is a Fellow of the Association of Music and Imagery. Celia has been a practising acupuncturist since 1982.

Jen Winter

Jen graduated from CTA in 1994 and set up her practice in Stratford-on-Avon, where she still lives and runs a busy clinic. After extensive studies of other styles of acupuncture she is now happy to have returned to her roots and works almost exclusively within the 5 Element model.
Jen very much enjoys working with new and enthusiastic students, and sharing her love of her work.

Linda Winstanley

Linda is a qualified community worker and has a BA (Hons) in Social Science and a background in research, training and management. She qualified as an acupuncturist in 1994 when she was awarded her Lic.Ac., going on to gain her Advanced Lic.Ac. in 1997 She lives in South
Birmingham where she practices, as well as being a resident practitioner at the College.

Sarah Holmes

B.Sc Biological Science and Health, MBchB Medicine and Surgery Sarah awarded the Barbara Carrick award for research following her dissertation on Panax Ginseng. She has lectured extensively on Western medicine throughout the UK and presently is Head of Western Science within CTA.
